Hidden Gems & A Gothic Palace

September 10, 2022 · TFKCC Blog Admin

Breakfast started with coffee in a bowl, the French way…

On the way, we enjoyed a quick break in the cute village of St. Andeol.

…then a fast 63 miles thanks to a tailwind that took us all the way to Avignon today.

There are so many little hidden gems we simply cannot do them all! We also passed many olive groves and lavender fields that enveloped us in the lovely aroma of lavender.

Avignon is a stunningly gorgeous city and very pleasant to walk in.

When we arrived in the city, we walked around the “rampart” or walls surrounding the city.

The walls and cobblestone streets are beautifully kept!

We passed the Pont d’Avignon (for those who know the song) before getting to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, another town that abounds with history.

If you ever visit the south of France, do not miss Avignon!

Even our hotel was cute!

More food photos from a cute charcuterie shop including a specialty you may not know about: Pâté en Croûte.

Brad also discovered what a Café Gourmand is (pictured above right): a cup of coffee served with assorted little sweet treats!

Would you like us to bring back the Café Gourmand on The French Kitchen menu?
